Patricio Tejedo
Mexico City, 1995

Patricio Tejedo lives and works in Mexico City. In 2019, he completed his degree in Architecture at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He began his professional career at Tatiana Bilbao Studio and, by the end of 2020, he started his artistic experimentation and practice as a three-dimensional artist. He recently completed an art curating course at the School for Curatorial Studies in Venice.

His work is inspired by nature and waste, seeking to establish a relationship between the two in order to revalue, study, and uncover their hidden potential. Through his practice, he explores materials such as clay, earth, fabrics, pigments, seeds, and ash, developing works that articulate organic processes and manual techniques with a critical perspective on the landscape and the construction of the environment.

Tejedo was selected for the YICCA award in Milan (2021), where he exhibited one of his first earth-based works. That same year, he participated in Nectar, his first artistic residency in Barcelona, developing new techniques for the exhibition Fuera(de)forma in collaboration with Espronceda Gallery. In parallel, he co-founded PETATE, an itinerant exhibition space that creates new encounters between artists and young collectors.

In 2022, he took part in SupaVenezia in Venice as both artist and co-curator, presenting Sedimentos de Venecia, a piece made with powders collected from facades deteriorated by humidity. In 2024, he developed a project at Plantel Matilde in Mérida, in collaboration with Fundación Javier Marín. There, he worked with local artisans from Sac Chich, exploring new techniques and glazes with regional clay.

Later that year, he carried out a residency at Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido, where he further developed his Sedimentos de Luz series, working with brass, local clay, and candles. During this stay, he also collaborated with a group of women to create a recipe book, strengthening dialogue with local communities.

At the end of 2024, he inaugurated his first solo exhibition, ORIGEN, with Terreno Baldío Gallery. The show brought together works that move between architecture, sculpture, and painting, proposing a material exploration of touch, time, and landscape. Through formal strategies that blur the limits between surface and volume, his pieces express an interest in fragility as a form of resistance and a search to inscribe the ephemeral within the expanded field of contemporary art.
