Patricio Tejedo

Patricio Tejedo is an artist and architect based in Mexico City. He studied Architecture at Universidad Iberoamericana, graduating in 2019. He began his professional career at Tatiana Bilbao’s studio and, in late 2020, started developing his three-dimensional artistic practice. He later pursued curatorial studies at the School for Curatorial Studies Venice.

His work investigates the relationship between nature, waste, and processes of material transformation. He works with earth, clay, ash, wood, fibers, textiles, pigments, seeds, stone, and recovered materials. His methodology begins with collecting, observing, cleaning, separating, classifying, and combining materials that remain close to their natural state, transforming them into objects, surfaces, and spaces. Through these processes, he explores the memory contained within materials, their relationship to landscape, and their capacity to acquire new uses, forms, and meanings.

In 2021, he was selected for the YICCA Prize in Milan and participated in the Nectar artist residency in Barcelona, where he developed new material investigations for the exhibition Fuera(de)forma. That same year, he co-founded PETATE, an itinerant exhibition project focused on creating encounters between artists, unconventional spaces, and new audiences.

In 2022, he participated in SupaVenezia in Venice as both an artist and curatorial assistant, where he presented Sedimentos de Venecia, a work made from dust and sediments collected from façades affected by humidity. In 2024, he completed residencies at Plantel Matilde in Yucatán, in collaboration with Fundación Javier Marín and artisans from Sac Chich, and at Casa Wabi in Oaxaca, where he continued researching materials and processes connected to territory.

At the end of 2024, he presented ORIGEN, his first solo exhibition with Terreno Baldío gallery. In 2026, he presented a solo booth with the gallery at ZONA MACO, highlighted by ARTnews among the fair’s standout presentations, and later presented Sedimentos en tránsito, his second solo exhibition with Terreno Baldío.

His practice moves between architecture, sculpture, and painting, exploring tensions between surface and volume, permanence and transformation, as well as the capacity of matter to preserve memory and establish new relationships with the body, territory, and space.
